The growing use of full-time non-tenure-track faculty represents a controversial change in the pattern of staffing colleges and universities. Roger G. Baldwin is a professor of higher education at the College of William and Mary. Jay L. Chronister is a professor of education, emeritus, at the University of Virginia.
