While that is the normal definition of festschrift, this book offers much more. Dr. Bill Ury has enjoyed a distinguished career as an academic, preacher and theological leader throughout his life. e son of missionaries, early on he caught the spirit of service and deep, abiding love of God, fully giving himself to the Lord for His glory. Along the way, he poured himself not only into his work but his family and countless students, associates, members of his congregation and Salvationists. e title of the book, Holy Love, has been the theme of his life.
Each essay is more than a tribute to Dr. Ury by offering a challenge to readers to consider the implications of Triune Holy Love for all areas of Church thought and our personal lives. The Wesleyan emphasis on holiness is not sectarian but is a valid expression of truth deep within Christian tradition. Holiness is entering into the life of the Holy One.
Rev. Diane Ury is married to Dr. Ury and serves together with him as National Ambassador for Holiness with The Salvation Army in the United States.
