Harnessing Stims and Behaviors in Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method demonstrates how to redirect behaviors and stims in an RPM session so that the learning objectives can be achieved. Included are examples of lesson plans that can be helpful to educators of Autism. Behaviors may not always be a "dead end" and stims many not always be the hurdles of learning if the teacher can dissolve them within the planning of the lessons.
Author Biography
Soma Mukhopadhyay is the Executive Director of Education for HALO (Helping Autism through Learning & Outreach) in Austin, TX. Soma holds a Bachelors of Education degree and a Masters degree in Chemistry . Students come from all over the world to benefit from her innovative teaching approach . Since developing the Rapid Prompting Method to teach her own son Tito, Soma has been featured on CNN International, 60 Minutes II, PBS, Good Morning America, Scientific American, the New York Times, National Geographic magazines. Soma is the author of five books including this title, "Understanding Autism through Rapid Prompting Method", "Developing Communication Using Rapid Prompting Method", "Curriculum Guide for Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method" and "Developing Motor Skills Using Rapid Prompting Method" released in 2014.
