Product Description

by Cristopher Maloney (Author)

A common, and oddly accepted, lament heard at field hockey games goes something like this, "I've been watching field hockey for 10 years and I still don't understand what's going on." Field hockey just isn't THAT complicated and, short of playing for 20 years, this book will help you better understand the game whether you're a player, coach, fan, reporter, or umpire. Though not a rule book, Field Hockey: Understanding the Game is updated each summer as rule changes made by the FIH, NCAA, and NFHS require.

Author Biography

Cris Maloney brings four decades of field hockey experience as a player, player coach, umpire, and umpire coach to the pages of this great book. Among other things, he is the author of the High-Performance Umpiring & Current Rules online course available via computer, tablet, or smartphone from UmpireHockey.com, created and serves as editor of the Ask The Umpire feature on USA Field Hockey's website, created the JUMP IN umpire training program, founded New Jersey's Garden State Games Field Hockey Event, and has served as the play-by-play announcer at international events hosted by USA Field Hockey.
