"Doc, they've got Danielle!" Came the high-pitched, nearly screaming, panic voice on the other end of the line. It was Juli calling from France, speaking in English. "When I came home from work for lunch, my apartment had been trashed and Danielle was gone. The Paris Police were everywhere. My neighbors said some men grabbed her and threw her into a black van.
The gendarme captain told me they turned it over to the high crimes and trafficking department, but to not expect anything quick, that this happens all the time. I think he was really telling me that nothing's going to happen.
The gendarme said he thinks the La Milieu, the French underworld, captured her. They operate between here and Marseilles."
"Juli, are you telling me they took her to Marseilles?"
