Author Biography
Sonia Michelle Veliz Alvarado was born in Guatemala, and by the time she was only fifteen years old, she had lost her father, her mother, and her younger sister. She and her brother were adopted by their maternal grandparents and brought to New York City, where they started a new life. In 2000, she completed her bachelors degree in business with a concentration in international business, and in 2007, she received her masters degree. Sonia is a daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin, and friend, and she is an accomplished world traveler. All the sales and proceeds of Because We Only Live Once! will be going toward Sonias dream of building educational programs for children.
