Join the 18 officers and 6 enlisted men of the US Coast Guard involved in the initial stages of Operation Tight Reign, a top secret mission into the unknown, from late 1965 at US Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC, to the rugged highlands of Northern Thailand and into the thick jungles of a little country at war, Vietnam. Operation Tight Reign saved the lives of many US fliers shot down in hostile territories in Southeast Asia, created pinpoint bombing of crucial North Vietnamese military infrastructure, and provided deadly low-level air support for our ground troops. Operation Tight Reign ushered in the age of smart bombs, the self-guided munitions so prevalent in the news today in the fight against ISIS and other radical groups in the Mid-East.
