Product Description

by Alison Atwell (Author)

In 2004 a leadership training program was undertaken in rural schools in Lombok, Indonesia that encouraged shared leadership across school communities rather than relying on top-down authority. Its purpose was to consider the emergence of new practices when schools are given the opportunity to be involved in a systematic program across a six-month period. In addition the research considered the possibility of attaching the leadership program to AID projects from a range of international donors as an efficient means of disseminating positive leadership practices in the future. A final report presented to the Ministry of National Education in Jakarta and to members of the donor community recommended that the trialed leadership training program impacted significantly on school based management and school community action. It also recommended that it would be a valuable inclusion in future educational AID projects throughout Indonesia.
