Product Description
by James Edward Musselwhite (Author)
Don't be afraid, be informed. A piano can't hurt you unless it falls on you (SO DON'T MOVE ONE YOURSELF ), and it could be one of the best friends you'll ever have. What does the word "piano" mean to you? To most people, it conjures up an image of something that is familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. They have seen a piano on a stage, or in a home, but they have never owned one, or even played one. To me, this is a remarkable fact. I grew up around pianos, and interact with them daily - but even though they are everywhere, the fact is that many think of a piano as something that someone else uses, that other people own. However, they are a universal and accessible instrument. To play a piano, all you have to do is press a key. This special edition is for those wanting to learn how to tune, or wanting to improve their tuning skills. Plus: Everything you ever wanted to know about pianos, but were afraid to ask
Author Biography
Jamie Musselwhite grew up among the sound of pianos and piano tuning. His father, Caleb Henry (Cal) Musselwhite, and his grandfather, Fredrick William, were both piano technicians, and today, he and his brother, John, carry on the family tradition. For close to a half-century, Jamie has tuned, repaired and rebuilt pianos professionally, but his love of pianos stems from being a young boy literally learning at the knee of his father. Jamie has tuned for orchestras, ballet and opera companies, and universities in Victoria, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Toronto, and for artists as diverse as Anton Kuerti, Victor Borge, The Pointer Sisters, Burton Cummings and Alice Cooper. Although he was born and raised a prairie boy, Jamie now lives in Toronto, Canada.
