Product Description

by Jessy Jaison (Author)

An immensely valuable resource for those who seek to do qualitative research in theological education Jessy Jaison's 'Qualitative Research and Transformative Results' calls for the holistic transformation of the church and society by helping researchers and their mentors develop capacities that will be up to the task. This masterful work informs and inspires researchers to explore the qualitative domain in theological research as a vital link between the academy and the world. Bringing a fresh perspective to theological study in human socio-cultural environments through eight comprehensive chapters, it offers theoretical and practical guidance on every aspect of qualitative inquiry.

This book highlights the potential of qualitative research practice in enhancing the seminary's connectedness with context and responsiveness to church and society. There is a need to develop this kind of research culture and competency among seminary faculty and students. This book is a valuable resource for theological educators committed to the task of equipping transformational leaders for the church and the world. Theresa Roco-Lua, EdD
General Secretary, Asia Theological Association

The roots of this book lie in the author's own experience of research in India, UK and USA but the work itself is significant for two other reasons: (i) It combines both the conceptual and practical aspects of QR but in a style, scope and format that is accessible and applicable without much fuss; (ii) It exceptionally assumes the praxis of theology as the particular source and object of research. For these reasons, it will particularly be useful for practical theologians interested in investigating problems around them 'in the world' and those that are auditing their preparedness for research.
David Immanuel Singh, PhD Research Tutor, University Link Tutor & PhD Stage Leader Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS), UK
