Author Biography

T Charmaine Pittman was born Tikwana Charmaine Pittman in Brownsville, Brooklyn New York to young parents who when Tikwana was just a year old her father joined the military. Growing up a military brat allowed her to be introduced to different cultures and backgrounds. Making Tikwana diverse, and well-traveled. As a child Tikwana struggled making friends because she was moving every 3-4 years. In completion of high school she did not go to college. In 1999, at the tender age of twenty Tikwana found out she was expecting her first child and her father had just been diagnosed with leukemia and was told he would not live to see the year 2000. While struggling with the reality of becoming a parent and in the process of may be losing one of her own parents writing became an outlet. Tikwana gave birth to a healthy baby boy in December of 1999 and her father was there to welcome his first grandchild into the world. Tikwana knew in that moment that she wanted to do something to make her father proud considering the time that had been placed on his life. She applied to a four year college called St. Paul's in Lawrenceville, Virginia where they had a single parent's program where she can attend school full-time and take her son with her. Tikwana completed her four year Bachelor of Science degree in three years and went on to get engaged and have her second child while completing a Master's degree in Business Administration. Tikwana then got married and had her third child while working on a Master of Science degree in Mental Health. By the time Tikwana was 35 years old she was a divorced mother of three working full time in finance. Even after being highly educated Tikwana was still searching for her passion the thing that made days outside of work refreshing. Tikwana always enjoyed journaling which was known as a home for her dreams, fears and emotions. Tikwana's oldest daughter also struggled with making friends. So, together they wrote their first book called Popular Paige. The hopes for Popular Paige is to create a youth group within the community where kids who also struggle to make friends can meet new people and feel welcomed. What's next for Tikwana C. Pittman? Being a full-time mother to three beautiful children, a mentor, full-time working woman, continuing to pursue her dream as a mental health counselor, hopefully creating a mentoring youth organization and expanding on other books.
