Product Description

by Sultana Nigar (Author), Omar Nakib Ibne (Author), Islam MD Shahidul (Author)

The aim of this research work is to the determination of photolytic degradation of the Tenaxit(R), product of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Bangladesh. Each tablet contains flupentixol INN 0.5 mg (as di-hydrochloride) and melitracen INN 10 mg (as di-hydrochloride). By conducting various type of physical, chemical and instrumental tests were done to determine whether the product is photo sensitive or not in various conditions (control, direct sunlight, normal light in the room, 25watt and 40watt light condition). Physical tests were performed according to the specification of official pharmacopoeia for evaluation of hardness, thickness, weight variation, friability of the Tenaxit(R) tablets from same batch. Finally, the sample was prepared for the UV-Spectroscopy measurement and absorbance of prepared sample was measured. It was observed that the potency of Tenaxit(R) was decreased gradually in various conditions after light exposure. So it can be said that the Tenaxit(R) containing combination of Flupentixol hydrochloride and Melitracen hydrochloride is light sensitive and exposing it to the light and radiation may hamper the content uniformity of the tablet.
