Product Description

by Emmanuel J. Zaganiaris (Author)

The book reviews the principles of ion exchange and the use of ion exchange resins in uranium recovery. Part I discusses the fundamentals of ion exchange, the structure, propertries and the main processes using ion exchange resins. Part 2 covers the recovery of uranium from acidic or alkaline leach liquors. In this section, the chemistry involved, the main factors affecting the resins performance, the equipment in which the resins are used, the main problems encountered and how one can evaluate resins in the laboratory are discussed. The focus is on ion exchange rather than on uranium hydrometallurgy and therefore this book is addressed to all those involved in the uranium industry for which ion exchange chemistry and technology is not their major field of expertise.

Author Biography

Dr Emmanuel (Manos) Zaganiaris joined the European Laboratories of Rohm and Haas France in 1975, where he was in charge of the technical support to customers, sales and marketing, for the applications of ion exchange resins.
