Product Description

by Robert D. Lupton (Foreword by), Dale W. Cross (Author)

Dale Cross is a prophet of hope. For more than five decades he has been immersed in every imaginable drama that urban life presents - from national leadership in the political world of church hierarchy to pastoring the inner-city homeless. He has lived as neighbor and friend in suburban church parsonages, in struggling transitional neighborhoods, and in ghettos surviving on life support. No matter the environment he called home, his care for humanity - especially the vulnerable - has drawn him into deep, complex, often heart-rending relationships with those in need of a fresh infusion of hope. As readers of Cry City Cry Hope journey with Dale Cross through the streets of America's urban centers, they will experience much of the unvarnished reality that is both the blessing and bane of modern cities. They will also experience a strong thread of hope interwoven in the elaborate, ever-changing fabric of the urban tapestry. While some may become overwhelmed by the complexity of the city and feel tempted to withdraw from its confusion and pain, Dale invites us to consider another way. He is certainly not Pollyannic nor does he sugar-coat troubling, sometimes tragic dilemmas. But he has a unique ability to perceive in dark places glimmers of light that can lead to-ward hopeful paths.
