Her dissertation, \u003ci\u003eCultural Conflict and Struggle: Literacy Learning in a Kindergarten Program\u003c\/i\u003e received recognition by the \u003ci\u003eInternational Reading Association\u003c\/i\u003e and was published by \u003ci\u003ePeter Lang\u003c\/i\u003e. As a Professor of Literacy at Le Moyne College, she teaches courses in the elementary and secondary programs and has developed a model, known as the \u003ci\u003eABC's of Cultural Understanding and Communication.\u003c\/i\u003e This model is implemented around the world and helps elementary and secondary teachers communicate and connect with families and communities and design culturally responsive literacy lessons.
