### Author Biography

**Margi Preus** is a _New York Times_ bestselling author of the Newbery Honor Book _Heart of a Samurai_ and other notable books for young readers, including _West of the Moon_, _Shadow on the Mountain_, and _Village of Scoundrels_. She lives in Duluth, MN, land of snow squalls and cardamom buns.

**Armando Veve** is an award-winning illustrator whose drawings have appeared in numerous publications around the globe, including _The New Yorker_, _National Geographic_, _The New York Times_, _The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times,_ and _Smithsonian Magazine_, as well as with Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and Art of Play. His permanent public art installation commissioned by MTA Arts & Design for Metro North Railroad was completed in 2021. He is a Society of Illustrators gold medalist, ADC Young Gun, and Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree. Armando studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and lives in Philadelphia.
