**Randall Munroe** is the author of the _New York Times_ bestsellers _What If? 2, How To_, _What If?_, and _Thing Explainer_; the science question-and-answer blog _What If?_; and the popular web comic _xkcd_. A former NASA roboticist, he left the agency in 2006 to draw comics on the internet full time. He lives in Massachusetts.
