### Author Biography

The seven photographers of the collective known as Photo Cascadia, Erin Babnik, Sean Bagshaw, David Cobb, Adrian Klein, Kevin McNeal, Chip Phillips, and Zack Schnepf, all live in the Pacific Northwest and have dedicated their careers to sharing its natural beauty while encouraging stewardship and conservation efforts. Active members of the photographic community, they regularly teach workshops and lead group photography tours throughout the region and beyond. Collectively they have mounted dozens of exhibitions and have received many industry and juried awards. Their images have been published in _Digital Photo Magazine_, _Digital Photographer_, _National Geographic_, _Nature's Best Photography_, _Northwest Magazine_, _OnLandscape_, _Outdoor Photographer_, _Outside_, _Popular Photography and Imaging_, and elsewhere. Erin Babnik is a Canon Explorer of Light.

Noted lepidopterist and writer Robert Michael Pyle is the founder of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and the founding chairman of the IUCN/SSC's Lepidoptera Specialist Group. A Yale-trained ecologist and a Guggenheim fellow, he is a full-time biologist and the author of 20 books, including _Wintergreen_, which won the John Burroughs Medal, _Chasing Monarchs_, _Mariposa Road_, and two collections of poetry. His works on butterflies include _The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Butterflies_, _Handbook for Butterfly Watchers_, and _The Butterflies of Cascadia_.
