### Author Biography

Siddhartha Mukherjee is the author of _The Gene: An Intimate History,_ a #1 _New York Times_ bestseller; _The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer_, winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in general nonfiction; and _The Laws of Medicine_. He is the editor of _Best Science Writing 2013_. Mukherjee is an associate professor of medicine at Columbia University and a cancer physician and researcher. A Rhodes scholar, he graduated from Stanford University, University of Oxford, and Harvard Medical School. He has published articles in many journals, including _Nature_, _The New England Journal of Medicine_, _Cell_, _The New York Times Magazine_, and _The New Yorker_.
