### Author Biography

**MARGUERITE DURAS** is the author of many acclaimed novels and screenplays, including _The Lover, The Ravishing of Lol Stein,_ and the film script for _Hiroshima, Mon Amour_. One of France's most important literary figures, Duras died in Paris in 1996.

**RACHEL KUSHNER** is the author of _Telex From Cuba_ (2008) and _The Flamethrowers_ (2013), both of which were finalists for the National Book Award. Prior to becoming a novelist, she was an editor at both _Grand Street_ and _BOMB_. She lives in Los Angeles.
