### Author Biography

Michael Dante DiMartino is an American animation director best known as the co-creator, executive producer, and story editor of the animated TV series _Avatar: The Last Airbender_ and _The Legend of Korra_, both on Nickelodeon. He was born in Shelburne, Vermont. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design with Bryan Konietzko, with whom he created _Avatar_. Before _Avatar_, Mike worked for twelve years at Film Roman, helping to direct _King of the Hill_, _Family Guy_, and _Mission Hill_ in addition to his own animated short, _Atomic Love_. The author lives in Santa Monica, California.
