Verde contends that many group laments in the book of Psalms were transmitted not only to heal but also to wound the community, ensuring that the pain of a previous generation was not forgotten.

**Danilo Verde** is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, KU Leuven. He is the author of _Conquered Conquerors: Love and War in the Song of Songs_ and coeditor of _Networks of Metaphors in the Hebrew Bible_ and _Cultural Hegemony, Ideological Conflicts, and Power in Second Temple Judaism_.
