### Author Biography

Dusko Doder is a former Moscow bureau chief for the _Washington Post_. His numerous awards include the Overseas Press Club Citation for Excellence and the Edward Weintal Prize for Diplomatic Reporting. He is the author of _The Firebird Affair_ and other books.

Louise Branson is a former Moscow correspondent for the London _Sunday Times_ and a former editorial writer for _USA TODAY_. She is the coauthor of _Gorbachev and_ _Milosevic._
