**Tim Richardson** is a writer who specializes in garden and landscape design and history. He has been gardens editor at _Country Life_, and landscape editor at _Wallpaper\*_ magazine, and was founding editor of both the award-winning gardens magazine _New Eden_ and _Country Life Gardens_. He contributes to the _Daily Telegraph_, _House and Garden_, _Gardens Illustrated_ and _Country Life_. He is the author of Phaidon's _The Garden Book_, _Vanguard Landscapes Gardens of Martha Schwartz_, _English Gardens of the 20th Century_ and _Arcadian Friends: the Makers of the English Landscape Garden_. He is also the author of _The New English Garden_ (Frances Lincoln).
