### Author Biography

**S. Scott Graham, PhD**, is Associate Professor in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Texas at Austin. He has written extensively about communication in health science and policy. He is the author of _The Politics of Pain Medicine_ (University of Chicago Press, 2015) and numerous articles in journals ranging from the _Journal of Medical Humanities_ and _Rhetoric of Health & Medicine_ to _Plos-One_ and the _Annals of Internal Medicine_. His research has been reported on in _The New York Times_, _US News & World Report_, _Science_, _Health Day_, _AI in Health Care_, and _Scientific Inquirer_.
