David Lehman, the series editor of _The Best American Poetry_, edited _The Oxford Book of American Poetry_. His books of poetry include _The Morning Line_, _When a Woman Loves a Man_, and _The Daily Mirror._ The most recent of his many nonfiction books is _The Mysterious Romance of Murder: Crime, Detection, and the Spirit of Noir_. He lives in New York City and Ithaca, New York.
