### Author Biography

David Lehman, the series editor of _The Best American Poetry_, edited _The Oxford Book of American Poetry_. His eleven books of poetry include _The Morning Line_, _Playlist_, _Poems in the Manner Of_, _New and Selected Poems_, _When a Woman Loves a Man_, and _The Daily Mirror._ The most recent of his many nonfiction books is _The Mysterious Romance of Murder: Crime, Detection, and the Spirit of Noir_. He lives in New York City and Ithaca, New York.

Matthew Zapruder is the author of five collections of poetry, most recently _Father's Day_, as well as _Why Poetry_, a book of prose. He is editor at large at Wave Books, where he edits contemporary poetry, prose, and translations. In 2016-2017 he held the annually rotating position of editor of the poetry column for _The New York Times_ _Magazine_. He teaches in the MFA program and English department at Saint Mary's College of California. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
