### Author Biography

**Jonathan Clements** has worked as a translator, voice actor or dubbing director on over 70 anime, including _Grey: Digital Target, Sol Bianca_ and _Musashi: Dream of the Last Samurai_. He was formerly the editor of _Manga Max_ magazine, a contributing editor of _Newtype USA_, and is now a contributing editor to _The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction_, with special responsibility for China and Japan. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University, China, and his latest solo book is _Anime: A History_ (British Film Institute, 2013).

**Helen McCarthy** was the founding editor of _Anime UK_ magazine, editor of _Manga Mania_ magazine, and the author of _Anime! A Beginner's Guide_, the first book in the English language on the medium. She has appeared in several anime as a voice actress and produced the UK release of _Beast Warrior_s. Her books include _Hayao Miyazaki: Master of Japanese Animation_, _500 Essential Anime You Must Own_, _Manga Cross-Stitch_ and _The Art of Osamu Tezuka: God of Mang_a, which won the Harvey Award. She has just completed _A Brief History of Manga_ for Ilex Press.
