### Author Biography

**Tanya Holland** is the host of _Tanya's Kitchen Table_ on the Oprah Winfrey Network and the podcast _Tanya's Table._ She is the author of _Brown Sugar Kitchen_ and _New Soul Cooking_, was the host and soul food expert on the television series _Melting Pot_, and competed on the fifteenth season of _Top Chef._ She is the executive chef of Town Fare. She holds a Grande Diplôme from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine, and has served as the president of the San Francisco chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier. **Maria C. Hunt** is a California-based journalist specializing in cultural stories around wine, food, design, and wellness. Maria has written for _Esquire, Wine Enthusiast, Dwell, Architectural Digest_, the _New York Times_, and _Christian Science Monitor_. She's the author of _The Bubbly Bar: Champagne + Sparkling Wine Cocktails for Every Occasion_. **Dr. Kelley Fanto Deetz** holds a PhD in African diaspora studies and anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley; an MA in African American studies from the University of California at Berkeley; and a BA in Black studies and history from the College of William and Mary.
