### Author Biography

Founded by Clay Felker and Milton Glaser in 1968, _New York_ was one of the earliest (and loudest) proponents of the New Journalism, launching the careers of Gloria Steinem, Tom Wolfe, Jimmy Breslin, Nora Ephron, and many others. More recently, _New York_ has won thirty-six National Magazine Awards in the past two decades--more than any other magazine--and six General Excellence awards. The _Washington Post_ has called it "the nation's best and most imitated city magazine."

Rebecca Traister is writer at large for _New York_ magazine and a contributing editor at _Elle_. A National Magazine Award finalist, she has written about women in politics, media, and entertainment from a feminist perspective for _The New Republic_ and _Salon_ and has also contributed to _The Nation_, _The New York Observer_, _The New York Times_, _The Washington Post_, _Vogue, Glamour_ and _Marie Claire_.
