### Author Biography

**Dr. Monica Brown** (she/her) is the award-winning author of many multicultural books for children, including _Frida and her Animalitos_, _Sharuko: El arqueólogo peruano/Peruvian Archeologist Julio C. Tello_, _Waiting for the biblioburro/Esperando al Biblioburro_, _Marisol McDonald Doesn't Match/Marisol McDonald no combina_, and the Lola Levine chapter book series. Her books have garnered multiple starred reviews and awards, and have appeared in _The New York Times_, _The Washington Post_, and NPR's _All Things Considered_. Her new release, _Small Room, Big Dreams: The Journey of Julian and Joaquín Castro_, is her thirtieth book for children.
