Miles Marshall Lewis is a pop culture critic, essayist and fiction writer from the Bronx, New York. He is author of the memoir _Scars of the Soul Are Why Kids Wear Bandages When They Don't Wear Bruises_, as well as _There's a Riot Goin' On_, a book about the music of Sly & the Family Stone. A former editor at _Vibe_, _XXL_, Ebony.com and BET.com, his essays and arts journalism have been published by _The New York Times_, _GQ_, _Essence_, _The Believer_, _Teen Vogue_, _Rolling Stone_, Salon and elsewhere. He also founded and edited the defunct literary journal, _Bronx Biannual_. Lewis currently lives in Manhattan.
