JONATHAN CHARTERIS-BLACK is Professor of Linguistics at the University of the West of England, UK. He is the author of _Corpus Approaches to Critical Metaphor Analysis_ (2004); _Politicians and Rhetoric: The Persuasive Power of Metaphor_ (2005); _The Communication of Leadership_ (2010) and (with Seale, C) _Gender and the Language of Illness_ (2010) as well as numerous other articles and book chapters.
