**Martin W. Sandler** has written more than seventy books for children and adults, including the National Book Award-winning _1919: The Year That Changed America_, _The Whydah: A Pirate Ship Feared, Wrecked, and Found_, _Apollo 8: The Mission That Changed Everything_, and _The Impossible Rescue: The True Story of an Amazing Arctic Adventure._ He lives in Massachusetts.
