**Kate Aronoff** is a staff writer at _The New Republic_, a fellow at Type Media Center, and a senior fellow at Data for Progress. A frequent contributor to _The Intercept_, her work has appeared in the _New York Times_, the _Nation_, _Dissent_, _Rolling Stone_, the _Guardian_, and _Harpers_, among other outlets. She was previously a writing fellow at _In These Times_ and a contributing editor at _Waging Nonviolence_. Aronoff is the co-editor of _We Own the Future: Democratic Socialism, American Style_ and the co-author of _A Planet to Win: Why We Need a Green New Deal_. She lives in Brooklyn.
