### Author Biography

Deborah Hopkinson is the author of many highly acclaimed picture books, including _A Letter to My Teacher_, which received two starred reviews, and the modern classic _Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt_, which the _New York Times_ called inspiring. Her other books include _Sky Boys: How They Built the Empire State Building_, a _Boston Globe-Horn Book_ Honor Book; and _Abe Lincoln Crosses a Creek: A Tall, Thin Tale_, an ALA-ALSC Notable Children's Book. Chuck Groenink is the illustrator of _16 Words_ by Lisa Rogers, which the _New York Times_ described as warm and cozy, as well as _Hank's Big Day_ by Evan Kuhlman, which received three starred reviews.
