### Author Biography

Arnold Lobel (1933-1987) was the award-winning author and illustrator of many beloved children's books, including the classic I Can Read books about Frog and Toad, and the Caldecott Medal-winning _Fables_.

Anita Lobel's name is synonymous with the best in children's literature. She is the creator of such classics as _Alison's Zinnia_ and _Away from Home_, and she received a Caldecott Honor for her illustrations in _On Market Street_. She is the creator of three books featuring her cat, Nini: _One Lighthouse, One Moon_ (a _New York Times_ Best Illustrated Children's Book); _Nini Lost and Found_; and _Nini Here and There_. And she wrote _Ducks on the Road_, which _The_ _Horn Book_ called "cozy." Her childhood memoir, _No Pretty Pictures: A Child of War_, was a finalist for the National Book Award. Anita Lobel lives in New York City.
