### Author Biography

Lisa Mantchev is the author of many picture books, including the internationally acclaimed _Strictly No Elephants_, illustrated by Taeeun Yoo; _Remarkables_, illustrated by David Litchfield; and _Someday, Narwhal_, illustrated by Hyewon Yum. Taeeun Yoo has twice received the prestigious _New York Times_ Best Illustrated Children's Book Award. She has illustrated many books, including _Strictly No Elephants_ by Lisa Mantchev, which has been published in fourteen countries. _The New York Times_ called it a "sunny, smart, tongue-in-cheek tale." She is also the illustrator of _Kitten and the Night Watchman_ by John Sullivan, which received five starred reviews and was named a best book of the year by many publications. Her other books include _So Many Days_ and _Only a Witch Can Fly_, both by Alison McGhee, and _Round_ by Joyce Sidman. Taeeun was also the recipient of the Ezra Jack Keats Award and the Society of Illustrators' Founders Award. She lives in South Korea with her family.

Alexis Romay is the author of two novels and two books of poetry. His essays and opinion pieces have been published by _NBC News_, _World Literature Today_, Museum of Modern Art, _El Nuevo Herald_, _Latino Rebels_, _Hypermedia Magazine_, _Replicante_, _Letras Libres_, and other outlets. He has written lyrics for Paquito D'Rivera and translated over forty picture books, as well as novels by Ana Veciana-Suarez, Margarita Engle, Miguel Correa Mujica, Meg Medina, Stuart Gibbs, and Adrianna Cuevas. He lives in New Jersey with his family.
