### Author Biography

WENDY PARKINS is a Senior Lecturer in the English Department at the University of Otago, New Zealand. She is the co-author, with Geoffrey Craig, of _Slow Living_ (2006), the editor of _Fashioning the Body Politic_ (2001) and has published a number of journal articles on women's modernity.
