### Author Biography

Karen Katz has written and illustrated more than fifty picture books and novelty books including the bestselling _Where Is Baby's Belly Button?_ After graduating from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, she attended the Yale Graduate School of Art and Architecture where she became interested in folk art, Indian miniatures, Shaker art, and Mexican art. Her book, _Counting Kisses_, was named one of the 100 Greatest Books for Kids by _Scholastic Parent & Child_ and was a Children's Book-of-the-Month Club Main Selection. Alexis Romay is the author of two novels and two books of poetry. His essays and opinion pieces have been published by _NBC News_, _World Literature Today_, Museum of Modern Art, _El Nuevo Herald_, _Latino Rebels_, _Hypermedia Magazine_, _Replicante_, _Letras Libres_, and other outlets. He has written lyrics for Paquito D'Rivera and translated over forty picture books, as well as novels by Ana Veciana-Suarez, Margarita Engle, Miguel Correa Mujica, Meg Medina, Stuart Gibbs, and Adrianna Cuevas. He lives in New Jersey with his family.
