### Author Biography

**Ed Morales** is an author, journalist, filmmaker, and poet who teaches at Columbia University. He is the author of _The Latin Beat_ and _Living in Spanglish_. He has written for the _Village Voice_, _Nation_, _New York Times_, _Rolling Stone_, and other publications and is a regular commentator on NPR. His film _Whose Barrio?_ premiered at the New York Latino International Film Festival. He lives in New York City.
