### Author Biography

Paul Martineau has been a curator of photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum for over fifteen years. Among the many books he has authored are _Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography_ (2018), _Robert Mapplethorpe: The Photographs_ (2016), _Minor White: Manifestations of the Spirit_ (2014), and _Herb Ritts:_ _L.A. Style_ (2012), all from Getty Publications.

Susan Ehrens, the author of _The Errand of the Eye: Photographs by Rose Mandel_ (2013), _A Poetic Vision: The Photographs of Anne Brigman_ (1995), and _Alma Lavenson: Photographs_ (1990), organized and cocurated the exhibition _The Photography of Imogen Cunningham: A Centennial Selection_.
