### Author Biography

Julie Fogliano is the _New York Times_ bestselling author of _And Then It's Spring_ and _If You Want to See a Whale_ as well as the poetry collection _When Green Becomes Tomatoes_ and the picture books _If I Was the Sunshine_, _My Best Friend_, and _When's My Birthday_. Recipient of the 2013 the Ezra Jack Keats award, her books have been translated into more than ten languages. Julie lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband and three children. When she is not folding laundry or wondering what to make for dinner, she is staring out the window waiting for a book idea to fly by.

Loren Long illustrated President Barack Obama's _Of Thee I Sing_; the newest version of _The Little Engine that Could_ by Watty Piper; Madonna's second picture book, _Mr. Peabody's Apples_; _Nightsong_ by Ari Berk; Frank McCourt's _Angela and the Baby Jesus_; _Love_ by Matt de la Peña; and _If I Was the Sunshine_ by Julie Fogliano.
