### Author Biography

**Gretchen Woelfle** is the author of multiple award-winning fiction and nonfiction books for young readers. Her books include _Answering the Cry for Freedom_, _Mumbet's Declaration of Independence_, and _Write On, Mercy!,_ both of which received the California Reading Association's Eureka! Silver Award, among many other honors.

**John O'Brien** has illustrated over 100 books for children. His titles include _Revolutionary Rogues: John André and Benedict Arnold_ by Selene Castrovilla and _Thomas Jefferson Builds a Library_ by Barb Rosenstock. John is also a cartoonist for many magazines and newspapers, most notably _The New Yorker_, _New York Times_, and _Esquire_.
