### Author Biography

**Lindsay Powell** (Introduction, editor) is a historian and author. He writes about conflicts, commanders and campaigns of the Late Roman Republic and Early Roman Empire. He edited, and wrote the introduction for, the volumes _Julius Caesar_ and _Hannibal of Carthage_ in the Myths & Legends series for Flame Tree Publishing. His critically acclaimed books include the biographies _Marcus Agrippa_, _Eager for Glory_, _Germanicus_ and _Bar Kokhba_, as well as the military histories _Augustus at War_, _Roman Soldier versus Germanic Warrior_, _1st Century AD_ and _The Bar Kokhba War, AD 132-136_. He is news editor of _Ancient History_ and _Ancient Warfare_ magazines. His articles have also appeared in _Military History, Strategy and Tactics_ and _Desperta Ferro_ magazines. Lindsay is a regular guest on the _Ancient Warfare_ and _History Hit_ podcasts. He is a 10-year veteran of the Ermine Street Guard, the world's leading Roman army re-enactment society. He has a BSc (Hons) in managerial and administrative studies from Aston University, England. He divides his time between Austin, Texas and Wokingham, England.

General Editor **J.K. Jackson** has written, edited and contributed to over 20 books. Related works include studies of Babylonian creation myths, the philosophy to time and William Blake's use of mythology in his visionary literature.
