### Author Biography

Louise Erdrich is the author of fifteen novels as well as volumes of poetry, short stories, a memoir of early motherhood, and children's books, including _The Range Eternal_ (Minnesota, 2020). Her novel _The Round House_ won the National Book Award for Fiction. _The Plague of Doves_ was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and she has twice won the National Book Critics Circle Award, for her debut novel _Love Medicine_ and for _LaRose_. She operates Birchbark Books, an independent bookstore in Minneapolis.

Jim LaMarche has illustrated _The Rainbabies_ by Laura Kraus Melmed, _Albert_ by Donna Jo Napoli (a _New York Times_ Best Illustrated Book), and _Up_ and _The Raft_, which he also wrote. Most recently he illustrated _The Carpenter's Gift_ by David Rubel and _Puma Dreams_ by Tony Johnston. He lives in Santa Cruz, California.
