### Author Biography

Edmund de Waal is a British artist, and author of _The Hare with Amber Eyes_ (2010) and _The White Road_ (2015). He is most well known for his large-scale installations of porcelain vessels and has received several awards and honours for his work. Charlotte Vignon is curator of Decorative Arts at The Frick Collection, as well as a visiting associate professor at the Bard Graduate Center, New York.
