### Author Biography

Michael O. Tunnell is a retired professor of children's literature and the author of several books for young readers, including _Candy Bomber: The Story of the Berlin Airlift's Chocolate Pilot,_ an Orbis Pictus Honor book. While writing _Desert Diary_, he had the privilege of interviewing Mae Yanagi and many of her former classmates from Topaz Camp.
