### Author Biography

**Murong Xuecun** (nom de plume of Hao Qun) is one of China's most famous contemporary authors. His work includes _The Missing Ingredient_, _Leave Me Alone_, _Dancing Through Red Dust_, and _Deadly Quiet City_ (The New Press). He wrote a _New York Times_ opinion column from 2011 through 2016 and has also written for _The Guardian_. He lives in Australia.
