**Matt Tavares** is the author-illustrator of _Crossing Niagara, Henry Aaron's Dream, There Goes Ted Williams, Becoming Babe Ruth,_ and _Growing Up Pedro,_ as well as _Zachary's Ball, Oliver's Game,_ and _Mudball._ He is the illustrator of _'Twas the Night Before Christmas, Over the River and Through the Wood, Lady Liberty_ by Doreen Rappaport, _The Gingerbread Pirates_ by Kristin Kladstrup, and _Jubilee!_ by Alicia Potter. Most recently he wrote and illustrated the modern Christmas tale _Red and Lulu._ Matt Tavares lives in Ogunquit, Maine.
